March 16, 2011
Hi ""

Thanks for subscribing to my Ezine - Annapolis Valley Updates. First let me tell you about some of the interesting things you may expect to see in these articles. I plan to mail one Ezine out every month.

The main reason for the Annapolis Valley updates is to keep you updated on any changes and additions I have done on my web site Annapolis-Valley-Vacation.com. The site is getting so big it is hard to find the new stuff, so I will provide you with links to these changes.

For those already in the Annapolis Valley or planning to visit the area I will also list some of the exciting things going on in the Annapolis Valley for the following month. For more information on these and other events make sure to check out my Annapolis Events Page on my web site.

If you like this e-zine, please do a friend and me a big favor and "pay it forward", by forwarding this on to them.

If a friend DID forward this to you and if you like what you read, please subscribe by visiting My Annapolis Valley Updates Page.

Introduction

Isn't it great! I am so excited! Spring is in the air!!! Yes I know it is still too early to think that spring is here, winter could still give us some nasty weather, but at least we are getting some nicer weather to enjoy right now.

I am told by my family and friends that it has been really nice in the Annapolis Valley this last week. They said there are even some wildflowers starting to poke through the ground! Everyone is starting to get outside and do some yard work. Out here in Saskatchewan it is not quite that good. We still have a lot of snow on the ground, but I am feeling some warmth to the sun and it is now warm enough to enjoy a nice walk during the day. I have been trying to get out as often as I can, I feel like I have been stuck in this room too long now.

The good thing about it all was that I accomplished a lot on my web site this winter! I have added somewhere like 70 new pages to my web site and up-dated and re-did quite a few more. As I mentioned in my last Ezine I have added a right column to my site now which list a box to sign up for this Ezine, a Facebook box, plus my new sponsor's ads.

I had to add this column to every page individually, so while I was doing that I updated many of the pages. Some that were too long, I made into two pages; some pictures were very small so I changed them to larger ones. Some information was a little out-dated, so I updated them and I also added new things to some pages. I cannot list all the changes, but look below for links to some of the biggest improvements.

So far I have affiliated with 3 new sponsors plus of course Site Build it, who I have to thank for teaching me how to make a working web site. See the bottom of the page of click on Sponsors to see a lit of my new ones.

This is a fast-paced, fast-changing world we live in now. I asked you in my last Ezine to visit my Facebook group Annapolis Valley Vacation, thank you to those of you who did. However Facebook has been going through a big change lately and they have offered something new with their "Pages".

There were several things I wanted to do with my Facebook group that I found I could not, so Facebook suggested I start a Facebook Page on the Annapolis Valley to go along with my web site. I may now jot a note on the Annapolis Valley Facebook Page and it will be shown in the Facebook box on the right column of my web site pages. I can see many advantages to this from letting everyone know about a new web page to a special event coming up in the valley. This box also allows people visiting my web site to visit my Facebook Page with a simple click, they are much more interchangeable.

There is lots that can be done on this Facebook Page; I am just learning all of it so expect a few changes and updates along with new things added. You will find this new Facebook Page on the right column of my web site or by clicking here.

I like the "Discussions" feature and hope to get some good discussions going on it. Informative things like my first one "The Best Thing About the Annapolis Valley". I really hope people will take a moment to write what they like about the valley in this discussion.

I have also added some random pictures of the Annapolis Valley plus an album of old postcards of the Annapolis Valley. I used to sell these on eBay and I got quite a collection of postcards of the Annapolis Valley. I started using these in my web site and I thought it would be nice to share more of them with you on the Facebook Page. The first forty I have put up have all been used in my web site; can you find the pages they are on?

Updates & Changes to Annapolis-Valley-Vacation.com

As mentioned above I have updated and rearranged several pages on my web site, plus I have added several new pages. I now have 218 pages and over 1000 pictures on my web site Annapolis Valley Vacation, that is a lot of pages! My daughter-in-law asked me the other day "when will I know when my web site is done?" I answered her it can be finished whenever I want it to be, but there is a lot of good information about the Annapolis Valley that I still want to add, so it has awhile yet. Besides I like working on this site, it gives me a chance to explore and learn more about my homeland.

  • The first page I changed was my Where to Eat Page. I took off the few restaurants I had mentioned on there and gave them their own page along with several others of my favorites. You will find the list of my 14 favorites on this page with a link to their own page giving some information about them.

  • I completely changed my Main Accommodation Page. I left information on it that pertains to selecting an accommodation but took off the other information and made it's own page - Plan Your Trip. I felt that this information needed it's own page and not cluttering up the accommodation page.

  • I re-did my Historic Sites Page, I added a picture and write up on the Goat Island Baptist Church and added pages for

  • On my Museums Page I put in all small pictures of the various museums that will open up to larger pictures when you click on them. I also shortened the write-ups on the museums on this page and made up new pages for most of the museums that did not have their own pages before. There are a lot of them so I will not list them here, but you can check them out from the museum page.

  • On my Attractions Page I made some changes also. I had to take off the Upper Clements Wildlife Park as it has closed down and I added a new page for Oaklawn Farm Zoo and moved the Sheffield Mills Eagle Watch up on the page. I also added Port George on here. For any one who had viewed my Port George page before you will see that I took out the Candle in the Window Museum off this page and gave it it's own page.

  • I completely redid my Guided Tours Page. I found that some of the ones I had listed on there did not seem to be still in operation plus there were several new ones that have started up and are very good. While working on this I made up pages on the Annapolis Royal Historical Association Tours:

Wow, I did not even realize how much I had accomplished until I started listing it all. That should give you lots more great information about the Annapolis Valley and Bay of Fundy! I made some minor changes and updates to several other pages also, but they were nothing major and probably would not even be noticed. These were all the big changes I made.

I am sorry for those of you who subscribed to my RSS Feed, it was very busy for quite awhile. Most of these pages were uploaded to that, sometimes several in a day. It will slow down now for a bit as I have to soon get ready to go back to work at my summer job. I have found in the past I do not have a lot of time to spend on my site during the summer but I try to keep up with any questions and request I receive.
