Between The Bushes Restaurant

Between The Bushes Restaurant located at 1225 Middle Dyke Road in Centreville, Nova Scotia is actually located in amongst 60 acres of high bush blueberries at Blueberry Acres.

This is a popular little restaurant that offers both indoor and outdoor dining. It's menu offers a good variety of locally grown fresh produce that highlight the season.

They have developed their "From Field to your Fork" program to bring fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables to your table. The Chef Steve is known for creating a menu of special dishes featuring this local produce according to the season. They also highlight a local farmer or grower in support of the local farming community.

Their menu is a little smaller but still offer a good range of popular items like soups and sandwiches to unique entrees such as Potato Crusted Atlantic Salmon. They offer several great dishes for the vegetarian and meat lovers alike. Their salad dressing is made on site with blueberries from their own fields and it taste great.

Make sure you try a bottle of Nova Scotia wine with your meal, made by wineries from the local area. For dessert you have to try their own blueberry apple crisp all made from local blueberries and apples. It is one of the most popular desserts in the Between the Bushes Restaurant and I can see why, it is delicious.

The staff at Between the Bushes restaurant are very good, they are friendly and attentive, but not too over bearing. They seem to be willing to answer any questions and provide information about this unique idea of a farming co-op restaurant.

The dining room is very nice, quite cozy and almost romantic at times. A very nice indoor fish pond provides a soothing background sound. There are beautiful works of art showing local scenes of the valley and done by local artist on the walls.

Before you leave make sure to stop by their little gift shop area and purchase your supply of vinaigrettes, spreads and 100% pure blueberry juice. They also have a selection of local books, prints and locally made crafts.
