Cape Blomidon Trails,
Great for Walking & Hiking

The Cape Blomidon Trails are great for walking-hiking or mountain biking.

The Cape Blomidon Provincial Park provide 12.8 km (18 mi) of the most scenic of the Kings County trails.

You will observe the different vegetation in the forest, be overwhelmed by the 183 m (600 ft.) high brick red cliffs, and view some spectacular waterfalls. You can walk along the red mudflats of the ocean floor that are left barren with the receding low tide.

Don't forget to take in the views of Kings County from the many look off points along the trails. Hope you thought to bring your camera.

The Park offers four well-marked trails:

  • 1) The Borden Brook Trail - A 2 km long trail with a moderate climb along spectacular falls;

  • 2) The Woodland Trail - A 3 km long trail that is a pleasant stroll through the forest;

  • 3) The Look Off Trail - A 1.5 km walk giving you some excellent views of the Minas Basin;

  • 4) The Joudrey Trail - This 6 km long trail is the hardest one with some difficult slopes, but you will be rewarded with spectacular views.

To hike the entire trail system would take you 4 - 5 hours however you can choose which trails you would like to take. There are some short easy loops for those families with your younger children. There are also some quite challenging trails for the more experienced hikers.

Directions to Cape Blomidon Trails

To get to the park take exit 11 off the Highway 101 and follow Rt. 358 to Canning. Keep right through Pereau and this will take you right to the park. The park is owned by the Provincial Government and is open from mid May to Mid September.
