Josies Restaurant

Josies Restaurant is located at 88 Warwick St, Digby, Nova Scotia. It is a small restaurant that specializes in Canadian dishes and seafood. Their specialty is the seafood, known around the area as having the best haddie bit dinner around.

Well as I have mentioned before mom loved her haddock so when we heard this we had to go and try it out. We travelled to Digby often so we planned to stop on our next trip.

I did not remember seeing the restaurant before so I had to find out directions. This was hard to believe that as much as I have been in Digby I had not noticed this place before. But when I found it I knew why, it is located in a small little strip mall beside the KFC. We stopped at KFC quite a bit and I had seen this little strip mall, but had never really looked to see what was there.

We went in, I was glad to see I could get mom in alright, she was not in her wheelchair but could not manage steps or very far to walk. The inside was small but clean and had a nice decor. We sat in the first booth and a nice waitress brought us menus right away. It was not real busy, but then we were well after lunch time.

We did not take long to decide, we had come to try the haddie bits so that is what we were getting. For those who do not know haddie bits are pieces of broken haddock fillets that cannot be sold as whole fillets so are sold cheaper. They are individually dipped into the batter and deep fried. They taste every bit as good as the whole fillet, just already cut up in smaller pieces for you. They are usually cheaper to buy plus you will usually get more fish for your money this way.

Well our meal came and it was a big plate full, we were impressed. It was really good also, maybe not the best I have ever had, but it was close. Mom enjoyed it enough that we went back several times and even took my sister and brother there to try.

My brother is not a big fish lover but he does enjoy a good plate of clams and chips and he said they were very good at Josies restaurant.

One day I had to take mom to meat a specialist at the Digby hospital and it was early, before breakfast. After the appointment we were quite hungry so decided to stop at Josies restaurant for some breakfast. I must say I was impressed with this breakfast, it was very good.

I got the cook's breakfast which had two eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, hash browns, toast and coffee. I must have been really hungry when I ordered because when it came I knew there was no way I was going to eat it all. I tried but just could not do it. I did not feel too bad though as the price was very reasonable. Mom had some type of omelet which she also seemed to enjoy very much.

I do recommend Josies restaurant, it is not fancy but it is very pleasant, has great food and the prices are very reasonable.
