Lavenas Catch Cafe
Lavenas Catch Cafe is located at 15 Hwy 217, Freeport, Nova Scotia. It is a great place to have a lunch while you are waiting to catch the ferry over to Brier Island. Or stop for a great meal after a day of exploring the islands or out watching the whales play. It is just a small cafe and lounge but very big on hospitality. The staff there seems to go out of their way to attend to your needs and comfort. They are very willing to answer any questions about the area you have and will offer suggestions of things to see while visiting the area. You are welcome to sit at one of the cozy tables in the main dining area, sit in the lounge and chat with the locals or you may enjoy your meal outside on the deck and enjoy the fresh air and great scenery. They will even accommodate larger groups for special occasions. Lavenas Catch Cafe has become very well known and was featured in the Food Network's "Pitchin In" with Chef Lynn Crawford and was recommended in "Where To Eat In Canada". They have built up a large clientele who come back year after year while visiting the area.     Besides the great hospitality the seafood just cannot be beat! You can enjoy fresh lobster, clams, scallops and fish almost fresh out of the water and cooked just right. I love their scallops there, they cook them just right for a pure delightful taste, especially the bacon-wrapped scallops. The cook there really knows the right seasonings to make their chowders seem just heavenly and they do not skimp on the seafood in them. You will find several other Canadian dishes served both as lunches and dinners which are just as tasty. Plus, if you still feel a little hungry they serve great tasting homemade desserts. I do recommend a stop at the Lavenas Catch Cafe whenever you are on Long Island, I am sure you will enjoy it.   Did you realize that you can get great restaurant reviews also at TripAdvisor?
