The Pool Shark of Granville Ferry

An Old Postcard of Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia

An Old Postcard of Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia

The Pool Shark of Granville Ferry is the story about a guy who had an unique ability. This ability could be useful, but wasn’t good for his job!

Sometimes it is best to keep any special powers you have to yourself. This proved true for one young fellow from Granville Ferry. He was a ship’s Stewart on a vessel and had worked this ship for quite some time.

One day he noticed while playing billiards that he could set a cue stick in an upright position and it would stay that way with nothing holding it. He began to experiment and test his powers and soon had 5 cue sticks all balancing on the table at one time doing gymnastics.

His friends were so baffled and excited about his skills they took him to a well known hypnotist but still could not find out how he was doing it.

They decided to tell their captain on the ship to let him know what kind of gem he had aboard.

But instead of being impressed the captain became very nervous and worried what affect this guy may have on the instruments on the ship. He decided to pay the guy what was owed and let him go right there and then. The pool shark was left to find other work, but had lots of time to sharpen his pool skills!
